On July 16, the Global Ecological Logistics Integration Development Summit and the inaugural 5.6 Shenzhen Logistics Festival, co-hosted by the Shenzhen Logistics Industry Association and the Shenzhen Cross-Border E-Commerce Association (SZCBEA), concluded successfully. The event, themed "Intelligent, Green, Livelihood - The Future of New Logistics," attracted over 1,000 participants. Attendees included representatives from various fields within the supply chain, government and business leaders from around the world, as well as logistics industry experts, all gathered to explore innovative paths for the development of global green logistics.

Distinguished guests, including Gao Dongchun, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Yantian District and Deputy Head of Yantian District Government, Winnie Wang, Executive Chairperson of SZCBEA, Wang Liqiang, President of the Shenzhen Logistics Industry Association, and Lawrence Shum, Managing Director of Hutchison Ports YANTIAN, jointly inaugurated the summit.

During the opening ceremony, Lawrence Shum, elicited a lively response from the audience with the internet buzzword, "Do you think Shenzhen's logistics industry is 'city' or not 'city'?" The audience enthusiastically replied, "Very 'city'!" This interaction underscored the resilient and forward-thinking nature of Shenzhen's logistics industry. Despite the complex and ever-changing international environment and shifting trade patterns, Shenzhen's logistics industry consistently adapts to market dynamics and demands, seizing opportunities and overcoming challenges. This adaptability has been crucial for Shenzhen to maintain its position as the top 1 export city in China for 31 consecutive years. As a pioneer in Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation, which now lasts 31 years, and a proud member of Shenzhen's logistics sector, YANTIAN shares this honour.

In the industry sharing session, Lindy Lin, Senior Manager of Commercial Department of YANTIAN, passionately explained how YANTIAN connects globally and empowers high-quality international trade development, including YANTIAN’s network with Hutchison Ports, which operates 53 ports in 24 countries and regions. During the peak season for international trade exports, YANTIAN has implemented a series of measures to stabilise international trade and drive development.

PART 01
New services, new investments, new-quality productive forces

This year, YANTIAN has welcomed 9 new shipping services, with over 60% connecting to Europe and US. As a crucial hub in the global supply chain, we handle more than one-third of Guangdong Province's international trade and over a quarter of China's exports to the US. In collaboration with shipping companies, government departments, and port supervisory authorities, we provide high-quality and efficient maritime services for our customers.

In addition to new services, YANTIAN is also continually increasing fixed investments and enhancing new-quality productive forces. In the first half of this year, we received 12 new remote-controlled automated RTGCs. We are dedicated to advancing the digitalisation, intelligence, and sustainability of the port and effectively manage peak shipping seasons.

To address peak shipping demands, YANTIAN has proactively developed contingency plans, optimised yard capacity, and deployed various resources to manage storage pressures and maximise cargo intake, firmly escorting trade exports.

PART 02
Ensuring smooth operations: support from port supervisory authorities

In response to Shenzhen's rapid trade development, port supervisory authorities, including Customs, Frontier Inspection, and Maritime Safety Administration, have provided robust support to ensure the flourishing of international trade via the port. Customs authorities have effectively managed the peak pressures of the export season by strategically reallocating manpower to support export inspection stations. This strategy not only improved inspection efficiency but also expedited the flow of cargoes, greatly saving time for exporters.

Additionally, Frontier Inspection, and Maritime Safety Administration, and other authorities have actively contributed to port international trade services. Their close cooperation has brought a streamlined and efficient import-export inspection process. The comprehensive support from these authorities is a crucial reason behind the widespread praise for our efficient and seamless operations.

Committed to a customer-centric approach, we plan to collaborate closely with partners to develop supply chain solutions tailored to customer needs. We remain dedicated to enhancing Shenzhen’s role as a logistics hub with global influence, supporting the Greater Bay Area, and promoting high-quality development of the international trade of China.
