In response to the theme of the 2024 National Safe Production Month, "Everyone Talks about Safety, Everyone Knows Emergency Response—Keep Emergency Exit Routes Clear," and aligned with the safe production policy of "Safety First, Prevention Foremost, Comprehensive Management," YANTIAN has launched a series of safe production activities. ⛑️

PART 01: Enhancing safety awareness

A lack of safety awareness is a major cause of accidents, and neglecting its development poses significant risks. Enhancing safety awareness is central to effective safety management. By improving employees' safety awareness and skills and fostering continuous vigilance, we can better control and reduce production safety accidents, ensuring safe operations.

In June, YANTIAN organised a dedicated training program for safety management personnel, "YANTIAN School" heatstroke prevention sessions, the "Race Against Time—Rescue Around You" first aid competition, AR-based fire drills, safety representative video recordings, and safety pioneer awards, among other activities. These initiatives aim to cultivate a culture of safety, supporting the port’s safe and sustainable development.

PART 02: Standardising safety practices

① Safety education and training are essential. They protect lives and property while also improving work efficiency and quality.
②  YANTIAN has introduced online "YANTIAN School" heatstroke prevention training to equip employees with vital knowledge and skills for preventing heatstroke and performing first aid. Furthermore, by inviting external safety instructors, YANTIAN has conducted offline training for safety mentors and team leaders to enhance their skills and reinforce the safety awareness of contractor management personnel.

PART 03: Enhancing emergency skills

In emergencies, effective response and procedures are essential for safeguarding lives and property.

In alignment with the theme of the Safe Production Month, YANTIAN hosted the "Race Against Time—Rescue Around You" first aid skills competition. The event featured competitions on trauma first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED use, and the Heimlich maneuver. This competition emphasised the importance of CPR, proper techniques, and improved first aid skills. Additionally, YANTIAN organised fire escape activities, including AR-based fire drills, fire alarm contact, proper use of fire extinguishers, and fire safety quizzes. These activities enhanced employees' fire safety awareness and escape skills.

PART 04: Developing a safety culture

Creating a robust safety culture is vital for effective safety management. Ensuring a secure port environment demands the active involvement of every staff of the port. This year’s Safe Production Month included the recording and broadcast of videos featuring safety representatives from various departments. It also celebrated safety pioneers who have diligently applied the principle of "I am responsible for my own safety" in every facet of their work. These recognition activities not only enhanced employees' safety awareness but also strengthened their sense of responsibility and furthered YANTIAN's safety culture. Together, we are fostering a positive environment where "I am responsible for my own safety" and "Everyone Talks about Safety, Everyone Knows Emergency Response" are core values.
