Fan Yu, President of HMN Tech Southern Region, and Raymond Chan, Operation Director of Hutchison Ports YANTIAN, signed the contract. Lawrence Shum, Xu Xujing, Vice President of Huawei's Smart Transportation BU, Xue Taotao, Member of the CPC Committee and Vice President of Shenzhen Port Group, Tian Ding, and Tao He, Deputy General Manager of Huawei Shenzhen Government & Enterprise Account Services Dept., witnessed the signing together.
Liu Ying, Director of Waterway Solutions for Huawei's Smart Transportation BU, shared successful experiences in smart port development, providing deeper insights into creating advanced, reliable production control and information communication systems. This technological empowerment is crucial for the construction of Phase I of the East Port.
Leveraging leading F5G full optical network technology, the East Port receives advanced and reliable network support for critical operations such as cross-port remote control and production office. This sets a model for the all-optical port industry and supports the integrated operation of the Central and East Ports. Emphasising the port's green development concept, a low-carbon dual-active data centre is constructed, offering a green, reliable foundation for applications. Additionally, auxiliary information systems are built in a coordinated manner to enhance safety and convenience, creating a truly smart port.
Completing pile driving operations with new productive forces
Recently, through the concerted efforts of all parties, Phase I of the container terminal project at the East Port has completed the pile driving of all 1,888 steel pipe piles within just one year since the first pile was driven in June 2023. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the project's construction.
✔During construction, the project team held regular scheduling meetings, closely monitoring each stage to ensure the orderly arrival of critical materials. They tackled key and challenging construction issues through technical breakthroughs, utilizing smart methods such as Building Information Modeling (BIM). By simulating the pile driving process, the team adopted a "test before build" approach to ensure high-quality construction.
✔Throughout the pile driving phase, the team employed the world's most advanced pile foundation dynamic monitoring system to visually manage project quality, safety, and progress. Robots replaced traditional inspection methods during the steel pipe pile manufacturing and acceptance stages, conducting panoramic inspections to ensure each pile met precision standards. In addition, the team continuously summarised construction experiences, optimised processes, and ensured safe operations.

Recognised as a provincial "Safe Construction Site" model project
As an important infrastructure project in the "14th Five-Year Plan" and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the container terminal at the East Port is a key initiative in building a strong transportation network and establishing a world-class port cluster in the Greater Bay Area. Phase I of the project plans to build three 200,000-ton automated container berths, with a designed annual throughput capacity of 3 million TEUs, making it a globally leading ultra-large fully automated container terminal.
Earlier this year, in the list of provincial "Safe Construction Site" model projects for highway and waterway engineering announced by the Department of Transport of Guangdong Province for 2023, Phase I of the terminal and revetment project at the East Port was the only project in Shenzhen to be recognised.
In the future, YANTIAN will remain committed to advancing a premier shipping hub and will wholeheartedly support Shenzhen in accelerating the development of a logistics centre with global influence. This collaborative effort aims to boost the international competitiveness of the Greater Bay Area and drive the high-quality growth of international trade in China.
