As July’s golden waves rolled in, children from Dahaicun Hope Primary School arrived at YANTIAN, embarking on the summer camp of this year.
This year marks the 21st anniversary of YANTIAN’s enduring commitment for corporate social responsibility, which began with the construction of the Dahaicun Hope Primary School in 2003 and has only grown stronger over time.
PART 1 First impressions of the sea
For the children from Dahaicun Hope Primary School, this was their first encounter with the sea. They explored the seaside boardwalk, enjoyed the fun at Dameisha Beach, took in the harbour views from the Yunhai Library, and delved into ocean wonders at the Ocean Science Center. Their understanding of the sea has greatly broadened and deepened through these experiences. With newfound confidence, these "mountain elves" have transformed into "sea experts."
PART 2 Exploring Yantian culture
During the summer camp, the children fully immersed themselves in Yantian's rich culture. They wandered through Chung Ying Street, soaking in its historical significance, visited the Shenzhen Security Education Base to acquire essential security knowledge, revelled in the vibrant ambiance of the night market, and marvelled at the cutting-edge innovations at BGI.
PART 3 Making new friends
On the final day of their journey, the children took part in the summer camp for the children of YANTIAN's staff.
Lawrence Shum, Managing Director of Hutchison Ports YANTIAN, gave the children a warm welcome, encouraging them to dream big, grow together. Following his speech, Ms. Li Yanping, Vice Principal of Changhu Town Central School in Shilin County, Yunnan Province, along with student representatives, also addressed the crowd. They expressed heartfelt appreciation for the enduring friendship spanning over 20 years and invited the YANTIAN team to visit Yunnan to experience its breathtaking scenery.
That day, the children showcased a series of delightful performances. When everyone joined in a traditional dance, it was as if a bonfire had illuminated the night, infusing the atmosphere with vibrant energy and joy.
