Recently, the Ministry of Transport, the National Railway Administration, and China Railway Group jointly released the "Exemplary Cases of Developing Container Rail-Sea Intermodal Brand Services". YANTIAN's "Chongqing-Shenzhen Scheduled Service" (referred to as the "Scheduled Service") was successfully selected, making it one of the 12 nationwide cases recognised for their success.

This initiative aims to fully implement the requirements outlined in the Action Plan for Promoting High-Quality Development of Rail-Sea Intermodal Transport (2023–2025). Its primary goal is to foster a nationwide network and corridor of rail-sea intermodal transport services distinguished by advanced infrastructure, efficient resource integration, standardised operations, and seamless coordination, elevating the quality development of the rail-sea intermodal transport system.

Delivering cargoes in just 48 hours

On 15 June 2024, YANTIAN successfully launched the inaugural Scheduled Service, providing Chongqing's export cargoes with not only stable and reliable departure schedules but also significantly reducing the transit time to YANTIAN from five days to just two. This landmark achievement offers international trade enterprises in the Chengdu-Chongqing region a more efficient, cost-effective, and low-carbon logistics channel to access global markets.

Through YANTIAN's rail-sea service system, Chongqing Inland Port has achieved seamless integration between Yantian Port and the Pingyan Railway. YANTIAN has introduced a distinctive suite of premium services characterised by digitalisation, standardisation, and refinement:
👍Digital services: Customers can place orders online, track shipments in real time, and access vessel schedules and shipment statuses with a single click.
👍Standard operations: The Scheduled Service adopts an integrated, standardised process. Efficient customs clearance in Chongqing ensures seamless loading and sailing at YANTIAN.
👍Refined management: Real-time supervision of every container's operational progress ensures zero errors and a 100% on-time port delivery rate.

Since its launch, the Scheduled Service has received widespread acclaim from major shipping companies and customers alike. YANTIAN remains dedicated to close collaboration with customers, continuously innovating and optimising our services. Since November, multiple dedicated rail-sea services have successfully operated, further enhancing this critical logistics corridor.

YANTIAN × Ocean Network Express

On 2 November 2024, YANTIAN partnered with Ocean Network Express to launch a dedicated Scheduled Service. This collaboration introduced an innovative "factory-to-destination seamless shipping" model, allowing fully loaded trains carrying automobiles to depart from Chongqing and arrive at YANTIAN within 48 hours. Upon arrival, the cargoes are seamlessly transferred onto vessels for expedited shipment to their final destination.

YANTIAN × COSCO Shipping

On 16 November 2024, YANTIAN inaugurated a dedicated Scheduled Service in collaboration with COSCO Shipping. Fully loaded trains arrive at YANTIAN within 48 hours, where the cargoes are seamlessly transferred onto oceangoing vessels for delivery to destinations across Europe, the US, and beyond.

YANTIAN and COSCO Shipping remain committed to enhancing services and driving innovation with tailored solutions. Beginning in December, the Scheduled Service will expand to include weekly shifts from stations throughout the Chengdu-Chongqing region. This expansion is designed to provide customers in Southwest China with a seamless factory-to-YANTIAN-to-destination ports, ensuring the fastest, most efficient, and reliable delivery of cargoes to their final destinations.

Kwai Tsing Port and YANTIAN join forces for a win-win outcome across three regions

On 20 August 2024, YANTIAN further strengthened collaboration with various partners by launching the "Chongqing-Shenzhen–Hong Kong Scheduled Service", enhancing the cooperation between Kwai Tsing Port and YANTIAN. Through the "SZ-HK Connect" model, the two ports leverage the complementary strengths of respective international trade shipping services, establishing a seamless, integrated logistics network that extends the reach of the Greater Bay Area's international ports into the inland regions.

Kwai Tsing Port primarily serves Asian and South American markets, boasting the largest number of Intra-Asia and South America services in South China, while YANTIAN focuses on Europe and the US, with 4 vessels heading for Europe and 6 vessels heading for the US every day.

A total of 6 daily feeder services operate between YANTIAN and Kwai Tsing Port. Cargoes arriving at YANTIAN are transported to Kwai Tsing Port within 6 to 8 hours, where they are seamlessly integrated with additional key services, such as those to South America and Asia, before being loaded onto large ocean-going vessels for global distribution.

The "Chongqing-Shenzhen–Hong Kong Scheduled Service" not only offers a stable and reliable departure schedule but also ensures that cargoes from Chongqing Tuanjie Village Station reach Shenzhen YANTIAN in just 2 days and Hong Kong Kwai Tsing Port in just 3 days. This provides inland international trade enterprises with a stable, efficient, and low-carbon logistics channel, fostering mutually beneficial cooperation among the inland regions, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong.

Continuous innovation for a stable, efficient, and low-carbon logistics network

Research shows that railways can reduce carbon emissions per unit turnover by 90% compared to road transport. The capacity of a fully loaded train under YANTIAN’s rail-sea service is equivalent to that of 100 highway trucks, emphasising the critical role of efficient scale transportation in curbing environmental pollution, cutting energy consumption costs, alleviating road congestion, restructuring transportation systems, and advancing the goals of the "dual carbon" strategy.

In this low-carbon model of rail and feeder multimodal transport, cargo owners can access YANTIAN's high-quality international maritime services through nearby ports or rail stations, while also benefiting from the comprehensive logistics support provided by Yantian Port.

🌟We boast the most extensive services to Europe and US in South China, with an average of 4 services to Europe and 6 services to US daily, complemented by over 10 cross-border e-commerce express shipping services.
🌟Our services cover a myriad of overseas destinations, offering hundreds of weekly services globally.
🌟As the last-port-of-call for most services from China, we ensure the quickest delivery of cargoes to their destination ports (12.5 days to the USW, 11 days to Australia).
🌟We have efficient operational capabilities and a favourable customs clearance environment.

YANTIAN boasts the only railway in Shenzhen directly connecting to the port area, and we will continue to collaborate with various stakeholders to further strengthen the rail-sea intermodal network, providing customers with stable, efficient, and low-carbon transport solutions.

As of today, YANTIAN has established 17 inland ports, 32 rail-sea services, 14 port alliances, and 17 feeder services, extending coverage across the Greater Bay Area, Southwest China, and Central China.

Looking to the future, we will keep promoting the port alliances and inland rail-sea services within the Greater Bay Area, expanding our network and ensuring seamless connectivity. This will drive the development of a more advanced shipping hub, ensure a stable and efficient industrial and supply chain, and make a significant contribution to achieving the national "dual carbon" goals and the high-quality development of international trade.
