On November 22, the highly anticipated finals of the Badminton Tournament of Guangdong Provincial Seafarers' System, hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Seafarers' Union, were held in Guangzhou. 32 teams representing the Union's Shipping Division, Engineering Division, Deployment Division, and Port Division were advanced to the finals.
YANTIAN's badminton teams delivered outstanding performances in the competition. The mixed doubles pair, Lai Zhiping (OSD) and Liu Huaiqi (FIN), secured the fourth place, while the men's doubles duo, Zheng Xiaoliang (ENG) and Lin Fangbai (OSD), claimed the eighth place.
The finals were brimming with top-tier players, with intense competition at every turn. From the preliminary rounds in the Port Division held in the late October, the YANTIAN team displayed exceptional courage and perseverance. Confronted with challenges such as the age gap with younger opponents and the disadvantage of competing away from home, the players remained steadfast, exemplifying unwavering determination and an indomitable spirit. They delivered outstanding performances, earning second and third places in the Port Division to secure a well-deserved spot in the finals.
In the finals, the intensity reached new heights as the team faced off against elite competitors. Every match, every point carried immense significance. The players showcased extraordinary resilience, encouraging and trusting one another as they endured the matches. Defying physical limits and pushing through to the very last moment, they brought honour to YANTIAN with their grit and exceptional performance.
