From 2 to 4 Septembre, Asia Fruit Logistica 2026 took place in Asia World-Expo in Hong Kong. As the preferred port of choice for cold chain in South China, YANTIAN has engaged in in-depth discussions with partners across the global fruit and vegetable supply chain for the fourth consecutive years, sharing effective solutions for the import and export of fresh produce through cold chain sea freight.

Asia Fruit Logistica 2026brought together 760 exhibitors from 41 different countries and regions, delegations from 27 countries and regions. The Preferred Port-of-Call for Mega-vessels

YANTIAN features the only near-18-metre-deep, 475-metre-wide natural channel in the GBA that remains ice-free and silt-free year-round, allowing 200,000-tonne-class ships to navigate in both directions around the clock. With "zero-time difference" and "zero tidal difference", it meets the high-efficiency berthing needs of fully laden mega vessels.

As one of the largest container terminals in the world, YANTIAN offers 100 weekly services reaching destinations worldwide with over 60% sailing to Europe and the Americas. YANTIAN handles over one-third of Guangdong Province's foreign trade volume, and has become a hub port for premium cargo imports to China from regions including the Americas, Europe, ANZ, and Southeast Asia, and stands out as the preferred port for cold chain in South China.

High-Quality and Efficient Cold Chain Supporting Facilities and Services

🔹The port area is equipped with over 4,500 reefer plugs for refrigerated containers.

🔹There are 2 dedicated cold chain inspection sites with constant temperature and 2 customs supervisory examination centres both inside and outside the terminal.

🔹Inspection supporting facilities and equipment are continuously optimized: the designated customs supervision sites are equipped with X-ray machines, intelligent temperature control systems, and other devices, enabling full temperature zone coverage from -25°C to 15°C, with two new sets of professional fruit fumigation equipment.

🔹Adjacent to the port, there are 5 cold storage facilities with a total storage capacity of approximately 200,000 tonnes, integrating constant temperature warehousing, bonded supervision, cross border processing, and other functions, capable of providing end to end comprehensive services for fresh and frozen food products.

Continuously Optimized Customs Clearance Environment and Increasingly Diverse Cargo Types

Over 95% of Shenzhen's imported frozen meat comes through Yantian, with fruits and vegetables, flower bulbs, dairy products, aquatic products, and fresh foods also being key cold chain cargo categories. In recent years, YANTIAN has expanded imports of apples, oranges, pears, pineapples, coconuts, durians, mangosteens, plums, avocados, cherries, blueberries, lemons, citrus, and other fruits from North America, Central and South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Oceania, and Africa. It has also become the main import port in South China for Zespri kiwifruit.

YANTIAN works closely with port inspection and quarantine authorities. Benefiting from the facilitation measures of Dapeng Customs, time sensitive cargo such as fresh fruits, plant bulbs, and dangerous goods can undergo customs procedures in a one stop manner, with the fastest turnaround allowing for same day unloading, inspection, sampling, and container pick up. YANTIAN will continue to collaborate closely with governments at all levels and partners, deepen reforms, and support the development of foreign trade.

YANTIAN has also continued to refine its intermodal services linking inland China to global markets

YANTIAN has launched 37 inland ports, 38 rail-sea intermodal routes, 15 Port Alliances, and 17 feeder routes, with service coverage extending across the GBA, Southwest China, and Central China. Both dry and reefer containers can be efficiently transported via YANTIAN's rail-sea intermodal services. The service network covers key inland cities including Chongqing, Chengdu, Changsha, Ganzhou and Nanchang. With the highway network coverage extending across the GBA, Southwest China, and Central China, we support customers in expanding their markets to more inland regions.

🔹Initiate Cold Chain Train Services in South China：On April 8, 2023, the Yantian-Ganzhou cold chain train was officially launched, achieving direct service within 12 hours. It employs an unmanned remote real time temperature monitoring system, and is supported by ample charging piles along the Pingyan Railway and at the Ganzhou station. In addition, the transport capacity is stable and reliable, free from diesel-powered refrigerated trucks, which strongly aligns with corporate ESG strategic external disruptions. Carbon emissions are reduced by over 90% compared to traditional goals, making it a core solution for cold chain transportation.

Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cooperation

SZ-HK Connect 24 hours connects (provides daily services) between YANTIAN and Hong Kong. YANTIAN brings the densest network of Europe and U.S. services in South China; while Hong Kong's Kwai Tsing Port focuses mainly on services to Asia and South America, with the largest number of such routes in the GBA. Through 6 daily Kwai Tsing-YANTIAN barge sailings, fresh fruit can be shipped from Hong Kong to YANTIAN, and further reach the inland hinterland via YANTIAN sea-rail intermodal network, shortening the transit time from Hong Kong to Chengdu to merely 3 days.Highly complementary to each other, the two ports provide comprehensive coverage of major global ports and shipping routes.
