On 16 July 2008, the new intra-Asia service from Hyundai Merchant Marine, the China India Express (CIX) service, made its inaugural call at YICT. The new weekly express service will call directly at the ports of Nhava Sheva and Pipavav in India to meet the growing demands brought about by the rapid development of trade between China and India.
Hyundai has deployed five 2,200-TEU vessels for the CIX service, which calls at Yantian every Wednesday with a port rotation of Busan, Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Singapore, Nhava Sheva, Pipavav and Colombo.
