On 4 July 2008, YICT invited over 500 representatives from cargo owners, shipping agents, shipping lines and warehousing companies to its Peak Season Initiatives Conference. Attendees were brought up-to-date with the latest developments from the Expansion Project and in YICT’s terminal operations, port traffic and customs clearance initiatives. They also got the opportunity to preview the new functions of the Easyport system. Moreover, everyone was especially impressed with the official opening of the Second Access Road to Yantian on the same day.
The new toll-free road comprises three lanes in either direction and boasts a daily road traffic capacity of 100,000 passenger car units. By diverting traffic flow heading east of Yantian, the road helps ease port traffic especially during the peak season.
Four deep-water berths from the Expansion Project have been put into operation, bringing the total number of berths at YICT to 14. A new service hotline, which can be reached on (86-755) 2529 0964, was introduced. It provides one-to-one consultations on customs declaration and helps to facilitate customs clearance. A Q&A session was also held to answer questions raised by YICT customers.
Held annually since 2003, the Peak Season Initiatives Conference has proven to be one of YICT’s most important ways of communicating with its customers.
