On 1 April 2007, the Guangdong Provincial Office of the State Administration of Taxation (SAT) and the Guangdong Provincial Local Taxation Bureau held a press conference where they announced the list of the province's top 100 taxpayers for 2007.
YICT was the only port operator in the province to make the list – proof of the company's contribution to the economy and to the development of the province. At the press conference, a company representative received an honorary certificate from the provincial taxation authorities and the Guangdong Provincial Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress.
The candidates were recommended by local taxation authorities based on their tax payment records and the actual tax amounts paid to the state treasury in 2007. The recommendations were then passed to municipal or regional offices of the SAT as well as municipal or regional taxation bureaus before being confirmed by the provincial taxation authorities.
