On 23 May 2007, Evergreen launched a new US service at Yantian, the U.S. West Coast-Asia-Mediterranean Service Westbound (UAMW). It is Evergreen's second service to call at Yantian in just ten days.
With twelve 5,300-TEU container vessels deployed to the route, the service calls at Yantian every Thursday, with a port rotation of Tacoma, Vancouver, Tokyo, Osaka, Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Tanjung Pelepas, Colombo, Suez Canal, Taranto, Genoa, Barcelona and Valencia.
During the season of shipping service adjustments, more and more oceangoing routes are calling at Yantian, thus further strengthening Yantian's role as the gateway for container shipment in South China and, moreover, facilitating trade between South China and other parts of the world.
