On 1 April 2007, YICT welcomed the commencement of a European service, the Europe-Far East (AE10) Service Eastbound (AE10E), operated by Maersk. It is the line's second new service launched at Yantian within a month after its FM5 Service on 10 March.
Usually, it is a golden time every March and April for shipping lines to adjust and optimise their services. Since the beginning of the year, Maersk has worked on the overall enhancement of its Asia-Europe services to rationalise its resource allocation. As one of Maersk's service adjustment efforts, the AE10E Service calls at YICT every Sunday with seven 8,400-TEU container vessels deployed to the line-haul route, which includes a port rotation of Felixstowe, Zeebrugge, Dunkerque, Malaga, Valencia, Salalah, Colombo, Yantian and Shanghai.
On 3 April 2007, another Maersk's European service, the Europe-Far East (AE7) Service Eastbound (AE7E) will resume at Yantian. Maersk has deployed the world's largest vessels, 11,000-TEU Emma Maersk and her sister vessels (the PS-class), to the route, which includes a port rotation of Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Algeciras, Tanjung Pelepas, Yantian, Hong Kong, Ningbo and Xiamen.
Frequent shipping services with sufficient capacities will facilitate YICT to better cope with increasing shipping demands in the coming peak season.
