With a joint investment of RMB 240 million from Yantian Port Group (YPG) and Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT), the Mingzhu Interchange opened to traffic on Friday, 12 December 2003.
Located at the junction of Shenyan Road and Mingzhu Road, the Mingzhu Interchange was developed in conjunction with YICT’s Phase III project. The completion of the interchange will play an important role in easing the traffic flow in the region.
Mr. Kenneth Tse, Director and General Manager of YICT, remarked: “We are pleased to participate in the continuing economic development of Yantian. As a major infrastructure development, the opening of the Mingzhu Interchange will greatly enhance the flow of traffic in the region.”
The Company is committed to working closely with the traffic management and planning departments of the Shenzhen Municipal and Yantian District Governments, in order to enhance the local infrastructure of the port.
The Mingzhu Interchange provides an important route from downtown Shenzhen to the west, Dameisha and Xiaomeisha to the east, and YICT to the south. It also provides improved access to warehousing areas in the surrounding land to the north, thus linking the port with important cargoholding areas. This new Interchange will facilitate the flow of traffic in and out of the port, and enable the separation of container trucks from regular traffic.
In addition, the Shenzhen Municipal Government, with the support of several enterprises, including YPG and YICT, has committed a total of RMB 5 billion to seven major infrastructure projects. The construction to widen the Changlin section of Luosha Road commenced recently, and is expected to be completed by mid-2004. Design tendering has been completed for the Eastern Passageway. Wutongshan Interchange and the upgrading of Shenyan Road are also at the design stage. Several other projects are currently undergoing detailed consideration. It is expected that all of the projects will be completed by 2006.
