On 22 March, YICT Golf Day 2002 was held at Xili Golf and Country Club. Mr. Thomas Lindy Sorensen from Maersk Sealand won the championship.
More than 110 golfers from the shipping lines teed off at 11 O'clock in the morning. After half a day's intense competition over the 18-hole course, the First Prize, the Second Prize and the Third Prize went to Mr. Thomas Lindy Sorensen of Maersk Sealand, Mr. M. Ikezawa of NYK and Mr. Arthur Lui of Yang Ming, respectively. NYK gained the Team prize. Besides, individual prizes including First Gross Prize, Nearest to the Pin, Longest Drive and Lady Prize were also awarded to different golfers.
During the tournament, a golf lesson was given to new learners by the golf professionals. The day ended with a barbecue buffet.
