On 29 September 2006, YICT’s Literature & Art Club and Photography Club got together to organise a visit to Shenzhen Yuanping Special Education School. Two of the club members talk about their experience of the visit.
Bright smiles
We entered the classroom towards the end of class. All of the children in the room looked to be about ten years of age. Each one has a moderate learning disability, but they all welcomed us with bright smiles and warm applause; I was easily heartened seeing the joy and sincerity in their eyes.
Most people would be of the opinion that these children were born to misfortune. Nevertheless, they blossom under the loving care of their parents and teachers. Who can rightfully say they are unhappy? Give them praise, a small present or even just a smile, and they, in return, will give you such bright and sincere smiles, priceless in all the world.

Happy Angels
When we entered the classroom, the children seemed to get very excited at seeing us. We later played some games with the children in the school lobby and then gave them some books and stationery as presents. Of course, we never missed any chance to shoot these happy moments. It was quite a surprise for us when the children all behaved naturally in front of our cameras; not a single child seemed shy. Their funny poses made us all laugh.
From my brief time with the children, I began to believe that nothing is impossible. As long as we face our troubles and challenges head on and always try our best, we will lead a wonderful life.
