Since 2003 YICT has been sponsoring Dahaicun Hope Primary School in Yunnan Province’s Shilin Yi Autonomous County. In that same year, YICT set up a working group to better carry out sponsorship of the school. More than RMB 200,000 was donated to fund the rebuilding and renovation work for the school’s buildings. In addition to donated funds, YICT also brought in teaching and learning materials for the school, set up a scholarship scheme for its students, and provided training opportunities for its teachers, among many others. Moreover, YICT has been arranging staff visits to the school every spring and autumn to keep close communication with its teachers and students.
Continuing efforts have been made to support the school’s educational needs. From 11 to 22 June 2007, YICT staff collected a total of RMB 10,000 during a charity sale event, and the sum was used to finance the educational needs of the school. And on 16 September 2007, YICT arranged for a number of the school’s teachers to visit Shenzhen for academic training and professional development.
Apart from sponsoring Dahaicun Hope Primary School, YICT has also helped other schools in need. In August 2007, a sum of RMB 25,000 donated by YICT was allotted by the Shenzhen Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment Charity Fund to finance the Hope Primary School Programme in Bijie, Guizhou Province.
