We were really impressed by the dedication shown by the teachers, by how intelligent the students were and by the simple lifestyle of the villagers. In helping these people, we realised that giving and receiving are of equal value, so we seldom mention words like “donation” and “help” when we talk to them.

I hope our continuing efforts in the Hope Primary School programme will provide more educational opportunities for the school’s children, so that they could have a real chance of making their lives better.

Although our stay in Yunnan is quite short, I believed it was an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. When getting the children to learn about YICT’s corporate culture, I also learned how to cherish, appreciate and forgive.

Upon seeing the children’s suntanned little faces (due to the local climate), I could not help but feel a bit sorry for them.

But when I heard them greet us with a hearty “Lao-shi Hao” (“Hello, teacher”), I was moved by their very polite manners.

When we received the children’s gifts, all handmade from the flowers and foliage planted on campus, our feelings were simply beyond what could be described in words.

The bluest sky, white clouds, grey stones, red clay and innocent eyes— these are the impressions of Dahaicun Hope Primary School left in my mind.

For food the children had just a few potatoes, vegetables and some homemade chilli sauce. I could hardly believe they were schooled under such conditions all year round.

I hope I could do more for them.

The visit to Dahaicun Hope Primary School has benefited our 12 team members a lot. We gave innovative lessons about nature and the environment and held interesting “healthy song” classes. Hearing the children’s melodious laughter was the best part about the whole visit for us.

During those four days, we lived as one big, happy family. We had been greatly moved by the children’s simplicity, kindness, thirst for knowledge and grateful attitude. For us, the visit made for a wonderful soul-searching journey. We hope the children will have a brighter future through our continued development efforts.
