On 24 February 2017, a conference promoting Yantian as a Demonstrative Port of International Ecological Safety was held at YICT. Attendees included: Tian Shihong, Director-General of the Standardisation Administration of China; Zhao Zhenshuan, Director-General of the Shenzhen Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau; Luo Yi, Deputy Chief of Yantian District Government; and Patrick Lam, Managing Director of YICT.
Since 2015, YICT has cooperated with the Yantian District Government and the Shenzhen Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau to establish Yantian as a demonstrative port of ecological security. Ecological risk caused by exotic organisms in the port area has been controlled with various initiatives in ecological risk management and green port construction.
YICT is committed to enhancing the ecological safety of the port, production safety management and emergency response. It was the first container terminal operator in China to use mobile shore power units and currently has the largest shore power capacity in the country. It is also equipped with world-leading oil spill detection systems. These green initiatives make up a sound maritime ecological safety protection system at Yantian.
