On 20 February 2017, YICT took delivery of two new quay cranes to serve its Berth 4, bringing the terminal’s total number of quay cranes to 83. The new cranes have a lifting height of 43 metres and an outreach of 56 metres, which allows them to straddle 20 rows of containers. The cranes also have a truss structure that enhances their ability to withstand typhoon-force winds.
The new cranes use YICT’s new corporate identity to align with that of Hutchison Ports. With its industry-leading quay crane fleet, YICT is able to constantly meet the demands of mega-vessels. In 2016, YICT received 1,351 mega-vessels with carrying capacities of 10,000 TEU and above.
