Jiangmen has a superior geographical location and rich industrial clusters including metal products, paper manufacturing and printing, textiles and garments, home appliances, motorcycles and parts and other advantageous industries. In the first half of 2022, Jiangmen's international trade achieved double-digit growth year-on-year, higher than the country’s average, especially for motorcycles, printing circuits, plastic products, and textiles, which are exported through Yantian Port.

Moving the terminal function forward to shorten transportation time and enable more convenient container turnaround

The 230km-long YANTIAN-Jiangmen railway enables the train to run in both directions, with 5-7 shifts per week. The container depot, with a total land area of 117,000 square meters, has two 800-meter cargo operation lines. Each line can load or unload 50 carriages of cargo at a time. The depot also has a 30,000-square meter operation area for gantry cranes, a 22,500-square meter platform for container handling, significantly improving transport capacity, providing a door-to-port intermodal service channel for the local importers and exporters and smooth and seamless logistics connections for enterprises in the Greater Bay Area.

Improve green and sustainable development to ensure the stability and quality of the international trade in China

As the container hub port of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and the largest container port in the world run by a single terminal operator, Yantian Port launched its intermodal service in 1991 and is one of the first ports in China to provide this service. YANTIAN actively responds to the call of the government to develop intermodal service to further boost green development. Since this year, YANTIAN has sped up intermodal service development and launched YANTIAN-Jiangmen Intermodal Service, Dongguan-YANTIAN-Hong Kong Intermodal Express Service, and established its inland ports in Longchuan and Yueyang. By far, it has nine inland ports in Pinghu South, Changping, Ganzhou, Heyuan, Heshan, Liling, Longchuan, Yueyang, and Jiangmen and provides 24 intermodal services, with the intermodal throughput generated by international trade in the forefront of domestic ports.

In the future, YANTIAN will continue to work together with all parties involved to improve the layout of inland ports and promote the development of intermodal service network. By leveraging the role of Shenzhen as a port-based national logistics hub, it will strive to better serve the development of international trade in the Greater Bay Area, make contributions in achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and facilitate the smooth operations of the supply chain and the industrial chain.
