On 10 December 2022, Hutchison Ports YANTIAN (“YANTIAN”) welcomed Seaspan Brightness, the first cherry express vessel from Chile to mainland China in this fruit season. From the inaugural call to the beginning of February 2023, there will be a total of at least 9 cherry express vessels calling YANTIAN, while existing express feeder services will also bring import cherry containers from Hong Kong to Yantian on a daily basis.
 

In recent years, YIANTIAN has been vigorously developing its smart cold chain business for both import and exports. Thanks to the constant support of the Customs and Yantian District Government, Customs clearance efficiency has been continuously improved. YANTIAN is now recognized as the preferred port for cold chain import as well as the No. 1 port for frozen meat import in South China. From this January to November, YANTIAN's fruit import volume has rocketed up by 600% YOY. Here's why YANTIAN is favored by China's fruit importers and exporters:

1. More services to attract more cargo sources. Cold chain cargoes, including fruits, frozen meat, seafood and dairy products, are imported to YANTIAN from South America, North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. To provide more service choices for our clients, YANTIAN continues to strengthen cooperation with liner companies to attract more cargo sources. This year, 19 new international shipping routes were launched in YANTIAN, adding to the 100+ routes currently in operation. 

2. Well-equipped with sufficient cold chain facilities. YANTIAN is now equipped with 4,000 reefer plugs in the terminal yard, two customs inspection centers with a total of 45 platforms dedicated for cold chain products, six cold storages with a total capacity of about 200,000 ton within three kilometers radius from the terminal (five are in operation and one is under construction). Among these, adding to the traditional cold storages, the newly launched cold storage located in the Yantian Free Trade Zone can provide value-added services for import clients, including food packing, processing and re-export.
