Chenzhou is adjacent to Guangdong Province and is the "south gateway" of Hunan Province to the Greater Bay Area. With the strong support from both Chenzhou and Shenzhen governments, YANTIAN worked with Chenzhou International Inland Port Development Co. in the establishment of the Chenzhou Inland Port, offering a convenient logistics gateway for local enterprises to go global.

01 Partnering for Success

On December 15, the signing ceremony for the establishment of "YANTIAN's Inland Port in Chenzhou" was held, in which Shenzhen Pingyan Multimodal Company Limited (PML) and Chenzhou International Inland Port signed the cooperation agreement. The signing ceremony was attended by officials including member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee of Beihu District, Chenzhou City, Deputy Head of Beihu District Government, and Cai Xin, Deputy Director of Transport Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, and representatives from YANTIAN.

Chenzhou International Inland Port was opened on 15 September 2022 with a total planned investment of RMB50 billion and a planned area of 26.38 square kilometers. It is a key project in Chenzhou and expected to be a demonstration zone for “free trade zone+ international land port” and "seaport + information port", a national logistics hub for production and services, and an international distribution center for non-ferrous metals.

02 Addresses by Officials and GM of PML

Cai Xin, Deputy Director of Transport Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, said, “The establishment of Chenzhou Inland Port could not be possible without the strong support from everyone present here. Shenzhen Port is the fourth largest container port in the world, and the Transport Bureau has always supported the port to drive green development, inland port system development and optimse the logistics business environment. Chenzhou Inland Port, as YANTIAN's 11th inland port and Shenzhen Port's 13th inland port, will assist Shenzhen Port in green port development, achieving the goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.”

Li Zhenhua, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Deputy Head of Beihu District Government, Chenzhou City, said, "The cooperation between Chenzhou International Inland Port and YANTIAN will break the predicament that Chenzhou is not along the border, not by the sea, and not by the river to drive local products and enterprises to go global. I'm confident that Chenzhou Inland Port will help Chenzhou better gear to the Greater Bay Area to build a large-scale multimodal transportation network that connects the whole country and even the world. ".

Zhang Xin, General Manager of Shenzhen Pingyan Multimodal Company Limited, said, "As the 'Gateway of South Hunan', Chenzhou is actively developing its electronic information manufacturing and modern logistics industries. Chenzhou Inland Port offers a door-to-port intermodal channel with stable, efficient, and low-carbon railway services for local exporters, helping them saving costs and creating more business value."

03 A New Inland Port

Chenzhou Inland Port is YANTIAN's 11th inland port and its 3rd inland port in Hunan Province, after Liling and Yueyang. It will directly transport cargoes in the south of Hunan to Yantian Port for shipment to the rest of the world, allowing local enterprises to enjoy the convenience brought by Yantian Port's well-development service network and its advantages as a hub port. 

This year, YANTIAN further expanded its intermodal services to the cargo catchment areas by establishing more inland ports and launching new container rail services. From January to November, the total intermodal throughput increased by 7% year-on-year, and by December 8, the throughput had exceeded last year's total.
