On 13 December 2021, the founding meeting of the South China Cross-border E-Commerce Logistics Standardisation Committee was held in YANTIAN. The meeting was hosted by Shenzhen Cross-border E-Commerce Association, supported by YANTIAN, and co-initiated by South China Cross-border E-Commerce Research Institute, Yunwuj Cross-border Logistics Platform, South China Cross-border Logistics Research Institute, Zhongshan Torch Polytechnic, and Shenzhen Polytechnic.Xie Zhuoheng, Secretary-General of the Logistics Section of Shenzhen Cross-Border E-Commerce Association and Director of the South China Cross-Border E-commerce Logistics Standardisation Committee, Lawrence Shum, Managing Director of Hutchison Ports YANTIAN, Wang Men, Deputy Director of the Investment Promotion and Enterprise Service Center of Yantian District, and Kevin Li, President of ZIM South China and Hong Kong, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.
The first meeting of the South China Cross-border E-Commerce Logistics Standardisation Committee and the release of the first proposal of cross-border e-commerce logistics industry of South China are milestones for the development of cross-border industry.

Mr. Lawrence Shum shared with entrepreneurs the positioning, role, and vision of YANTIAN as the terminal of choice for cross-border e-commerce in South China. He said, "The cross-border e-commerce market has experienced explosive growth in the post-pandemic era, and we keenly anticipate the changes in the market and the trend of logistics supply chain. To support the development of cross-border e-commerce export business, we have worked together with customs departments to provide a series of facilitation measures in clearance, inspection and logistics, etc. MCC in the port can operate cross-border e-commerce returns and transshipment, greatly improving the overall logistics operation efficiency. YANTIAN is the terminal of choice for cross-border e-commerce in South China, demonstrating recognition from the market. We will continue to listen to customers' voices and understand their demands, cooperate with relevant associations and government departments to improve the business environment, harness our advantages, and drive the industrial cluster effect in YANTIAN, building a sound ecosystem."
South China is leading the cross-border e-commerce in China. Data show that 70% of China's cross-border e-commerce owners are in South China, and 80% of South China's cross-border e-commerce owners are in Shenzhen. YANTIAN, as an important gateway for China's international trade, has worked with the shipping lines to provide 94 international services, including 14 e-commerce express lines. Leveraging its shipping express lines, which provide premium and efficient terminal services, YANTIAN has continuously improved the cross-border e-commerce logistics services, providing "one-stop clearance" for cross-border e-commerce logistics enterprises and helping them export cargo quickly, efficiently, and flexibly.
Mr. Wang Men said, "Yantian District is the only administrative region in Chinese mainland that is connected to the Hong Kong SAR by land and water, so it is the 'bridgehead' of Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation and the core area of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. In recent years, Yantian District attaches great importance to the development of cross-border e-commerce logistics. Yantian Integrated Bonded Area has already been included in the development program of Shenzhen cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone and serves as the core project. Cross-border e-commerce 9610 regulatory station has been completed and will soon be put into operation. All these will contribute to build a sound cross-border e-commerce logistics development ecology. "
Mr. Xie Zhuoheng introduced the value, nature, and purpose of the establishment of the South China Cross-border E-Commerce Logistics Standardisation Committee, saying, "The Committee is an important social organization for the development of cross-border e-commerce industry and standardisation of cross-border logistics. Its purpose is to unite and connect cross-border enterprises and entrepreneurs across the country, and leverage the role of standardisation."
In the meeting, representatives of each department and enterprise read out the Proposal of Cross-border E-commerce Logistics Industry, and Committee members voted and approved the Statute of the Committee.
The proposal calls for:
1. Working together to maintain the sound development of cross-border e-commerce logistics industry.
2. Consciously fulfilling the responsibility of the cross-border e-commerce logistics industry, ensuring price transparency, timeliness, loss assurance, information symmetry, delay assurance, etc.
3. Strengthening the service awareness, raising development awareness, actively participating in the Committee's standardisation promotion services, providing guidance and suggestions for the development of the industry, etc.
The initiative has attracted various cross-border e-commerce associations and cross-border logistics enterprises across the country, facilitating the standardisation of cross-border e-commerce logistics industry.
As one of the initiators, YANTIAN was appointed as a member of the Committee and received a plaque from the Committee.
The amount of China's export cross-border e-commerce transactions reached RMB7.73 trillion in 2021, and China's international trade is transforming from products going global to brands going global. The Chinese government attaches great importance to and strongly supports the development of cross-border e-commerce and other emerging international trade business models, launching many preferential policies for cross-border e-commerce. This meeting is of great significance to the development of cross-border e-commerce logistics in China, which is conducive to forming a standardisation system that is in line with international standards, gathering resources to drive the high-quality development of cross-border e-commerce in China.
