On 23 September 2005, Shenzhen Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau (the Bureau) and YICT signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to jointly undertake an initiative called Create a Favourable Port Administration
On 3 August 2005, MOL and Pacific International Lines (PIL) jointly launched a new South African and South American service CSW at Yantian. They have deployed 11 vessels in the service to provide customers with a regular shipping service.
On 25 July 2005 at Yantian, China Shipping launched a global service, AMAX which is the first ever global service to call on Yantian.
On 16 July 2005, YICT welcomed "Gudrun Maersk", the world's largest and longest state-of-the-art vessel. With a length of 366.9 metres, the vessel is about 30 metres longer than the world’s largest Nimitz Class aircraft carrier.
The port declaration procedures at Yantian Port have been simplified in recent months to facilitate cargo flow at Yantian.
YICT welcomes eight new international shipping services in the month of July.
On 17 June 2005, NYK's "Iwashiro" made an inaugural call at YICT to commence a new shipping service "New Good Hope Express Service" (NGX).
On 13 June 2005, New World Alliance launched a new US West Coastwest service named Pacific Southwest Express (PSX) at Yantian with its inaugural vessel of "MOL Expeditor".
On 22 May 2005, Norasia launched a European service Asia - Middle East Express (AME) at Yantian. Commencing from 23 May, Maersk Sealand officially added Yantian to its ports of call as part of its SAFARI South Africa service.
YICT is expecting its first South America service on 1 May 2005. This is the Far East/South Africa/South America service (ESA) operated by Evergreen, COSCO and Lloyd Triestino (LT).
On 10 April 2005, Evergreen launched a new U.S. West Coast service HTW at Yantian with an inaugural vessel, the "Ever Diamond", to meet the growing demand of South China economy.
Shenzhen and Dapeng Customs have achieved further progress on Customs reform at Yantian Port. New initiatives, such as the pre-declaration for import cargoes and streamlined international trans-shipment procedures
On 18 March 2005, COSCO's "Dong He" called at YICT, marking the official shift of the China-Persian Gulf (CPG) service, operated by COSCO and Evergreen, from Chiwan to Yantian.
On 25 December 2004, "K"Line's container vessel "Akashi Bridge" made its inaugural call to Yantian to commence CKYH's America service, All Water Eastbound 4 (AWE4).
The terminal operational rate of Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) has kept increasing dramatically this year. November 2004 was the first month that YICT broke a monthly quay crane rate of 35 moves per hour on average.
