In March 2008, YICT welcomed the commencement of three of Maersk's new Asia-Europe services – the AE8W, AE3W and AE11W services.
On 19 March 2008, YICT was chosen as the best of the "Top Ten Shenzhen Logistics Enterprises" at the annual Shenzhen Logistics Brand Ceremony, hosted by the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily and several local logistics associations.
On 18 March 2008, YICT began a collaborative environmental protection and education programme with Lingnan (University) College of Sun Yat-Sen University, one of China's most respected centres of higher learning.
Through a series of energy-saving initiatives, YICT was able to reduce its electricity consumption by 19.9 percent per TEU in 2007, earning applause from organisations such as the Shenzhen Bureau of Trade and Industry.
On 25 February 2008, YICT welcomed its first new shipping service since the Chinese New Year – the Asia-East Mediterranean (AEM) service of Evergreen Line.
On 19 February 2008, YICT staff members launched a donation drive to help victims of severe snowstorms that have affected South China since mid-January.
In February 2008, YICT's Phase III was awarded the Tien-Yow Jeme Prize, one of China's highest awards for civil engineering and construction, by the China Civil Engineering Society and the Tien-Yow Jeme Civil Engineering Science and Technology Development Fund.
On 21 January 2008, the "MOL Agility", the first vessel in Mitsui O.S.K. Lines' (MOL) South African Express (ZAX) service, called at YICT.
On 20 January 2008, YICT welcomed the maiden call of the "AL Safat", the first of eight 7,000-TEU vessels that United Arab Shipping Co. (UASC) has deployed to its Asia-Europe Container Service 3 (AEC3).
