On 19 September 2003, an on-site meeting was held among Yantian Frontier Inspection, Yantian Port Group and YICT to prepare for commencement of Phase III's first berth.
On 24 September 2003, China Shipping commenced its Asia America Central Service (AAC) at YICT.
On 17 September 2003, YICT received three quay cranes and four Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGCs) following the previous two deliveries.
On 17 September 2003, CMA CGM's container vessel "CMA CGM Yantian" called at YICT on her maiden voyage.
On 13 August 2003, a state-of-the-art crane simulator purchased from the United States was delivered to YICT. Used for training quay crane and RTGC operators, the simulator is able to simulate a variety of operational situations.
On 7 August 2003, YICT received twelve Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGCs). This follows a delivery of six RTGCs on the 17th of July, part of the same order which includes ten quay cranes and twenty-seven RTGCs for YICT's Phase III Project.
On 31 July 2003, the Traffic Police Brigade (TPB), the Supervisory Administration Bureau of Safety Production (SABSP), YICT and major trucking companies signed an agreement to jointly promote a "Traffic Safety Community".

On 14 July 2003, Grand Alliance commenced its second European service Loop G at YICT. Currently, 12 of 53 international services calling at Yantian are European services.
At the inaugural meeting of Shenzhen Customs Brokers Association in June 2003, YICT was elected as one of the first 82 members of the council.
On 10 July 2003, Section B of Yanba Highway (between Yantian Port and Kuicong) was officially opened to traffic. On the same day, Yanpai Highway connecting Yantian port with Jihe Highway commenced construction, further improving the road network around the port.
From 1 July 2003, customers can now enjoy a direct express container rail service between Yantian and Changping provided by Shenzhen Pingyan Railway Company Limited (Pingyan Railway).
On 17 June 2003, Trans-pacific Express (TPES), a US Service, jointly operated by Compañía Chilena de Navegación Interoceánica S.A. (CCNI), Maruba s.c.a (MAR), TMM Lines Limited (TMM) and Lykes Lines Limited (LYKS), made its inaugural visit at YICT.
On 11 June 2003, Grand Alliance began its East Coast Express 2 (ECX2), a US-Eastcoast Service, at Yantian with the deployment of five vessels.
13 Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGCs) were delivered at YICT on 10 June 2003. Part of an order made last August, YICT received the initial shipment, two new Quay Cranes and 18 RTGCs, the week before.
