On 9 July 2017, a group of 15 students and their teachers from Yunnan Dahaicun Hope Primary School arrived in Shenzhen for a week-long summer camp. This was the 12th annual summer camp the company has hosted for these Hope Primary School students.
On 14 July 2017, YICT, together with Yantian Port Group, released over 2.5 million fish and shrimp fingerlings into its surrounding waters in the Mirs Bay.

On 14 June 2017, YICT took delivery of two new quay cranes tailor-made for barge operations. Each with a lifting height and outreach of 28 metres and a lifting capacity of 40 tonnes, the new cranes are suitable for both single- and double-hoist operations.

As part of the Shenzhen Port Environment Day hosted by the Shenzhen Ports Association, YICT arranged a port tour for around 60 residents from 20 local families on 1 June 2017.
On 28 May 2017, YICT welcomed the inaugural call of the 21,413-TEU OOCL Hong Kong. Measuring 399.87 metres long and 58.8 metres wide, this is the largest container vessel in the world by carrying capacity.
On 26 May 2017, YICT conducted its 2017 customer communication session, themed “YICT – Your Fastest Gateway to the World”, for around 300 guests. Cargo owners, freight forwarders, railway operators and representatives from shipping lines, warehousing enterprises and related government departments attended the event.
On 22 May 2017, the first container train serving the railway cargo route linking Shenzhen with the Belarusian capital of Minsk set off from YICT, marking the launch of the first direct freight route from Shenzhen to Europe.
YICT Berth #16 was officially put into operation. With a quay length of 886 metres and water-depth alongside of 17.4metres, the new berth is equipped with eight quay cranes, four of which are dual-hoist cranes.
On 12 May 2017, the 20,568-TEU container vessel Madrid Maersk called at YICT on her maiden voyage. Madrid Maersk is the world’s largest container vessel in service.
On 6 May 2017, Wang Weizhong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Guangdong Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, visited YICT.
